This evening ,the 31st of December 2013, I am glad to be alive and well. This calls for celebration, no? As a matter of fact, will drink to that a bit later tonight.
2013 has been a pretty good year. I remember at first I was very apprehensive about how the year would turn out especially because it was my first year straight out of campus. Truth is, I can whine about how I was not able to achieve quite a number of things I expected to as per my 2013 new years’ resolutions. I choose not to. In an interesting twist, I was able to experience situations in ways I did not think possible.
Having gone through some pretty humbling events over this year, I definitely have loads to be thankful for. Life, a clean bill of health, loved ones, not forgetting the smallest of victories I achieved; albeit how big or small they were.Β In the upcoming year, I look to continue with the same positive and open-minded attitude that I’ve had through this year, praying and hoping to achieve more and more.
Below are a couple of pictures that pretty much sum up how my year was. Wishing everyone a happy new year π
Naturally began my internship on a high. And no, I am not high, neither I’m I a doctor π . And yes now I notice I was wearing the mask-thing up-side-down. A bitter sweet experience but overall worthwhile.
My more sober moments. Got caught up in the elevator selfie craze as well!
Finally started getting my biking gear together. This is a friend’s bike though π
Believe it or not, this is what my main goal for 2013 was. To start a proper recycling program. Haven’t gotten to that yet These guys collect the plastic bottles and sell them to recycling companies.
A typical busy day in Nairobi CBD. Tom Mboya street. I think this guy was delivering a sermon to the masses! lol
A full moon!
Worked shortly at the JKIA in Nairobi. The view here is more often than not, breath-taking
This was at the runway before it rained
Went on a road trip to Meru and Nanyuki. This is honestly one of the best hotels I’ve seen around!
The inside is even more amazing!
Finally got a chance to visit Moyale town in northern Kenya
The Somali people are always doing business!
Here even the women are in the business of selling that fresh khat!
A small resort in Nanyuki town
Modern art!
The other side of modern art! π
An old truck
A very good looking trail-bike. Suzuki DRZ 400 I think?
Traveled a lot as well, thanks to sports
Now its time to go parrrtyyy:-)
Will probably add more pictures tomorrow.
Tranquility. Took this close to the shores of lake Naivasha
View point along A104
At the view point, we ran into this kid who was selling rabbits/hares (I can’t tell the difference). It really looked good enough to take home!
The expansive lake Naivasha
I haven’t been to a place this serene all year!
The dock at the lake front.
A wise saying in Kiswahili.
These guys always have the most interesting messages on their boats!
Never a dull moment in these parts of the country!
Caught this guy staring and waiting patiently as we fried some beef for supper out in the wild!
Then these two came around just as breakfast was being made. Random coincidence? I think not π
Met this cool couple in the gorge at Hells Gate national park. Didn’t have the guts to go down there coz I had heard the this place is notorious for flash floods. Some pretty steep descents that require a steady pair of hands for support
The natural sauna near Ol Karia 7 power station Hells gate national park
Animals gathering at the watering hole in the park.
Have a great night
